Cranberry BBQ Sauce & Pulled Turkey Sandwiches

25 Nov

Did you all survive the dreaded black Friday?  I personally turned into a hermit.  Seriously.  I didn’t ever leave the house that entire day.  The sheer fear, dread, and anxiety of being trampled to death had me hold up like a recluse, refusing the venture out into the wild unknown.  I decorated from Christmas instead.  It was perfect.

Lets talk some leftovers.  I know…I know…I’m still at it.

Thanksgiving Leftover Turkey, Kale, & Sweet Potato Hash

23 Nov

This could very well be my favorite day of the year.

I love waking up and knowing there are loads of leftovers awaiting me in my fridge.  I’m talking awesome leftovers too. So many  options and possibilities.  The breakfast hashes, the TURKEY SANDWICHES, the turkey soups, turkey pot pies…aww lawdy!  I can ramble on and on and on.

By the way, how was your Thanksgiving?  Did you manage to lounge around, and have a lazily food filled day, or did you have to dodge shrapnel and landmines at forced or uncomfortable family gatherings?  I defiantly had an amazing day full of fabulous food and wonderful family.

Ramblings & Thangs

20 Nov

It’s nearing Turkey time my little hob gobblins.  I know I’ve been totally M.I.A and for that I apologize.   BUT…my little blog-o-sphere is almost finished so that’ll be launching soon, soon, soon.  AND I haven’t stopped tinkering about and I’ve stumbled across some pretty good things I need to share.

1. I know we are in holiday season kick-off mode and love is all around.  I’m all about the love.  But this article made me laugh, 23 Reasons Food Is Better Than Love read it.  I think it correlates to the holiday season and the biggest food day of the year.

2. If you’re being a total toe-nail biting, eyes aglaze, too many options, wishy-washy foodie and have yet to make up your mind about the pies that will grace your Thanksgiving dessert table (no names…ADRIENNE RHEA) check out this pretty  little slide show.  It may  help…or just further your indecisive state.

3. Is it okay to eat a bowl of peanut butter, with frozen, soft mashed blueberries stirred in and call it lunch?  Seriously.  Sometimes I don’t know what is wrong with me.

4.  What is it with people and the black Friday rage?  I just witnessed a shirt that read, “I survived Black Friday”.  Yes it happened.  Yes, sadly, there are been some people that did not.  Uh-merica, am I right?

Have a lovely Tuesday.

Howdy my cowpokes!  I am still in transition phase to my brand-spankin-shiny-new blog.  Hence the minimal amount of new fun posts!  But there is something that I HAVE to share!

I am currently the featured member on The Tasty Kitchen!  Hoorah!  I’m like, kind of a big deal now.

You should probably go take a gander…

Stay tuned…I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth.  I am still around AT LARGE, and will be back to my normal shenanigans  shortly.

Pecan, Cranberry, Apple, & Goat Cheese Stuffed Sweet Potatoes

12 Nov

I have been so totally geeked out lately!  Think a hummingbird on the crack rock.

That’s because Thanksgiving is nearing and I cannot  help but get pumped up.  Blasting around, making lists, time schedules, and menus.  Thanksgiving and Christmas, well they are, kind of my jam.

I’ve taken it upon myself recently to bring to you some lovely Thanksgiving inspired ideas.  Outside the usual fixings on Turkey Day.  Some traditional, some tweaked in small little ways, and just some Adriennetastic recipes.

Apple Cinnamon Sandwich

8 Nov

I like to think of myself as a Pollyanna.  Not always, but in my perfect world; I am Pollyanna.  Trying to see the all the good and positive in life.  Giving the benefit of the doubt, and always using linen napkins.

Oh, I also like to use a star cut-out on whatever I can get my little fingers on.  In this case it was coring my apples.  That’s just me.

Blue Cheese Potato Wedges

7 Nov

I’ve been doling out the man food once again.  We need to have a serious meeting.  Possibly a Man Food  Anonymous meeting?  I’m sorry sometimes I just reek of geek and cannot help it.  Don’t you see, I CANNOT stop.

Now before you go and try to give me an Indian burn on my thigh know this: I love you.  Each and every one of you.  This is why I baked the potatoes and and drizzled them with blue cheese, and topped them with more blue cheese.

They are completely sinful and delicious.  But not so sinful.  I mixed Greek yogurt with blue cheese dressing to cut some of the fat and calorie factor down a wee bit.

Rocky Path Brownies

I think I’ve been seriously shirking on my blogging duties as of late.  I find myself with my hands in my armpits wondering what just happened!  Where am I?  What is going on?

It’s that Gone Girl book!  I cannot stay out of it.  I’m about 1/3 of the way into it and I am hooked.  Seriously HOOKED.  I am totally caught in the middle of the brilliant writing and seriously serious mind games.  Like, SERIOUSLY.  Have you read or heard of this masterminded genius book?

Happy Halloween!

31 Oct

Happy Halloween my little goblins!  I hope you find yourself elbow deep in a bowl of delicious confections today.

I feel I have been a mad woman as of late.  We have been without the internet for 6 DAYS!!!!!  OH MY LAND!  But after literally DAYS of battling it out with the internet tech geeks we finally got it up and a going.  They like to forget about us because we live in the boonies.

While I was listening to my tech helper frantically typing away, probably terrified for his life because the woman on the other end was either:

a. constructing a bomb to blast Century Link off the face of the earth

b. eyes buldging, pulling her hair out one strand at a time

c. shaving down a piece of pipe to use as a shiv to jab at the next person that tried to tell her he could not help her, and they needed to send a tech out (AGAIN)

But luckily, I kept my cool, and did this cookie monster instead while I was stuck on the phone, (for two hours!!!!!), and I needed to use my precious Halloween time wisely.  This was a good choice for me and I feel strong about it.

I have been very wishy-washy with my blog posts and for that I’m sowwy.  But doesn’t this googly eyed molasses ginger cookie make it all better?!

Happy Halloween my friends!  Belly up and enjoy some sugary treats today!

Servings for Jumbo Ginger Molasses Cookie

2 TB butter

2 TB mollasses

3 TB brown sugar

1/2 t vanilla

6 TB white whole wheat flour

1/4 t baking soda

1/8 t sea salt

1/8 ground ginger

1/4 t cream of tarter

Preheat oven to 350.

In bowl mix butter, molasses, sugar, and vanilla.  Combine well and then add flour, baking soda, ginger, salt, and cream of tarter.

Place dough on cookie sheet and bake 11-13 minutes until edges are firm and cookie is set in middle.  Do not over bake.  Remove from oven, let cool, and decorate to your hearts content!

Loaded Chicken Sausage Potato Skins

29 Oct

My life, my real  life, started late one fall night as a cowboy in perfectly broke-in jeans and a stetson walked into it.  And yes, I’m totally aware at how this sounds.  But it’s true.  You all should know.

I get sentimental and nostalgic this time of year, particularly the end of October when my world was forever changed in the most magnificent way.  Now before you spike your computer out the nearest window and throw up a little in your mouth because of my sappiness, I promise I’m getting to the good stuff.

I thought I needed to make this man, this cowboy, happy and bake loaded potato skins.  These are so perfect for a pretty fast easy supper, or a great football/party appi.
